Jaw countering is a cosmetic procedure designed to improve the appearance of the facial contours of the jaw line. Typically, female clients strive for a more youthful and feminine appearance which is achieved through jaw countering treatment by reducing the width of the lower half of the face.
Jaw contouring treatment can benefit both male and female clients who wish to reduce the appearance of a square jaw. For some individuals a square jaw may cause concern about the overall balance of their facial features due to the over development of the masseter muscle adding bulk to the lower portion of the face.
Asian ancestry, genetic predisposition and changes in mandible bone, skin and fat.
Botox injections are used to relax and subsequently reduce the enlarged masseter muscles (jaw muscles) that can contribute to the appearance of a square jaw. The reduced bulk of these muscles creates a narrower lower face which is typically the cosmetic aim of clients undergoing this treatment. Following the administration of Botox injections clients can expect a softening of the masseter muscles within five to seven days and an improvement in the jawline counters within six to eight weeks. The effects of treatment can last up to six months with many clients achieving a permanent correction within two to three treatments.
For clients who wish to enhance and sharpen the contours of their jawline the use of dermal filler is indicated. This gives their jaw a sharp chiselled look.
In some clients we use PDO thread lift or Silhouette Soft® Lift for jaw contouring.
Some clients require a combination of the above-mentioned treatments to achieve optimum results.
At Richmond Cosmetic Clinic, we use Juvederm Voluma® and Radiesse® for jaw contouring.
The procedure is performed by Dr Baba, a highly trained and experienced aesthetic doctor who is also a senior trainer for this procedure at London Aesthetic Academy (www.londonaestheticacademy.co.uk).
